Before her untimely death, Judge Alford served as the inspiration for A&M Mediation & Consulting and Mr. Moore’s legal career. Judge Alford’s judicial philosophy was based on parties conducting themselves with professionalism and working across the aisle in order to resolve issues and cases. Prior to becoming a Judge and while serving as corporate counsel for Hercules, Judge Alford encouraged dialogue by teaching immigrants the English language. One of Mr. Moore’s first memories is drawing in the back of those classes while learning to serve people of diverse backgrounds.

After graduating Herbert H. Lehman College-City University of New York and Rutgers University School of Law, Judge Alford became the second licensed African American woman attorney in the State of Delaware. After serving as corporate counsel for Hercules Inc. and subsidiary Aqualon Company for nearly twenty years, she became the first African American woman judge in the State of Delaware in 1992. She served for eleven years in the Superior Court before her untimely death
